Actually any Thanksgiving that I get to spend with my family is pretty special. You know though my Dad had a massive Heart Attack on Christmas Day in 1998 and had open heart surgery and so we put Christmas off till he got home and actually about 3 or 4 weeks after that. So that Thanksgiving that followed and it before the coming Christmas, I was thankful to have him with us and I am thankful everyday of my life to have my Dad. He is still with us so I continue to be thankful.

My brothers and I got together to see my Mom who has not ever been a traditional mom. For the first time I can recall, she did the traditional Thanksgiving feast, made a festive occasion, made all the relatives gathered truly comfortable and happy. God bless her for that. I shall never forget it.
On the other hand...
I am in California and was invited to a Thanksgiving party of college students. I stood before them and read aloud George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation, the historical origin of the holiday. Some were delighted. Others got red-faced with FURY. I had just outed the hateful Leftists in the room. It was sweet. LOL!!

This last Thanksgiving. We moved across the country and I had my mom, grandmother, and uncle come for Thanksgiving. This was the first time that I made the dinner for them. They wanted to help but I told them this was my treat, I was just thankful that they came all that way to have Thanksgiving with us. I turned out really nice. I even cleaned up by myself. That was the last time I got to see my mother, she died on Mother's Day. That Thanksgiving will always be special to me!

the first time I had thanksgiving in my new house. I had parents, in-laws, aunt, uncle, cousins and cousins children. It was a full how and a lot of work but I LOVED it. Now I either have thanksgiving or christmas at my house each year

My first year away at college. I was with 5 boys I grew up with and cooked the entire dinner for them. We didn't have a kitchen table and chairs, so we laid out blankets picnic style and invited a bunch of other college students in our apt. complex who were also too broke to drive home.
The turkey wasn't fully cooked, the pies didn't firm up when cooked, it was pretty terrible but tons of fun. I think we ended up eating Dominos!

The Macy's parade. I went to NY and bought a glass ball with the parade balloons, was so nice. I enjoy the family times, no gifts to worry about just down home good times.

The year my husband forgot to put the sugar in his pumpkin pies and the kids ate them anyway so they wouldn't hurt his feelings.
